She said, She said

I finally had a chance to catch up on some reading and one of the ones I most look forward to is Traditional Home.  Sadly it’s the November/December 2011 issue I’m catching up on (that’s how far behind I am).  I fell in “L’amour” with the coffee tables in the shot below and found myself pining for them loooooooooong after the magazine was closed.  I decided that it was time for me to let go of my ottoman and buy these (or facsimiles thereof) for my very own.  However, that evening as I sat all comfy cozy on my sofa with my legs up on my ottoman I realized that giving up this comfort might not be so appealing?  What do you think … will ottomans as coffee tables stay or will they go out of fashion?

Sharon says: They will stay around.  Our lifestyles have become to soft for the rigidity of “coffee tables”.  I think that we are all looking for comfort to smooth out our busy life schedules and an ottoman, that you can put your feet up on, offers the epitome of relaxation.  If I had a second “living” room I would have coffee tables for sure, but how many of us have that as an option anymore or even want those unused rooms?

Yvonne says:Oh my this is a tough one…I agree with the claim of comfort and relaxing with the ottoman but look at these! Gorgeous!!! Perhaps a gal could use that comfy chaise for relaxing…tehehe. I wear shoes for fashion not comfort (even if they are killing my feet) so that said my vote is for the coffee tables. I do however have two small ottomans that I pull in when we decide to hang out and watch a movie…so almost the best of both.

  1. Tough call ladies! I think it depends on the room. Both can be lovely. In a big room where a large cocktail table is required I love the idea of using multiple tables instead of a single large one.

I so enjoy my ottoman in my family room and embrace a coffee table in my more formal living room. I don’t think my family would let me get rid of the ottoman now that they have come to love it.
