L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, France

The first antique fair in l’Isle sur la Sorgue was initiated by Rene Legier. At that time nobody expected it to grow and grow. Today it is probably the third most important antique center in Europe after London and Paris. Over 300 antique dealers exhibit here on a permanent basis. This number more than doubles with visiting dealers every weekend. The international antique fare is held twice a year at Easter and in August. Dealers from all over the world present an astonishing selection of antiquities. “The only thing you can’t get in l’Isle sur la Sorgue is a bargain” (Peter Mayle). (link)

It was pouring rain but this little town still managed to get under my skin.  The unbelievable antique shopping certainly added to its appeal, but it was more than that.  There is a beautiful crystal clear stream running all through the town, with lots of little bridges, its immensely charming.  Highly recommend you take a side trip if you’re in the area.  Well worth it.

The shops along this strip had the stream running behind and they all had access to it … they had me at “hello” :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Much appreciated ….. sharon
